I have been lucky enough to take several Champagne day trips from Paris and have enjoyed all of them (some for various reasons!). It is one of the top bucket list experiences in Paris and something I encourage every group or couple traveling to sign up for.
In my guide, I will break down the top tours and hopefully help you select the tour that is best for you and your budget.

At the end, I will also give a small overview of the Champagne region of France, as well as answer any questions you may have in the FAQ section.
Should you book a Champagne tour from Paris?
While Paris offers a variety of experiences and some of the world’s best attractions, I believe a Champagne tour is one of the best things to do there. It is also a day trip that works for all types of travelers and groups – whether it be the solo traveler, a couple, or a group of girlfriends!
Paris Tours to Consider
Yes, you can reach Champagne country independently, but I do think it can be quite the task if you’ve only got a short amount of time in Paris and are unfamiliar with the French language. Taking a Champagne tour is a good way to see the region, visit a couple of houses, and learn more about the world-famous beverage!
Taking a tour eliminates the need to rent a car (or navigate public transportation) and will set you up with an expert guide who will be able to answer any questions you have throughout the day.

Another plus? You will have an automatic designated driver so you won’t have to worry about how you’re going to get back to Paris!
I have hand-selected the Champagne tours from Paris that you’ll find in this guide and all have their advantages (and disadvantages). You’ll find small-group options, as well as private and Prestige ones in the guide.
Please note that all of these tours depart from PARIS, not Reims or Epernay.

How to Book a Paris Champagne Tasting & Tour
The easiest way to get yourself on a Paris Champagne tasting and tour is to do what I did – book from one of the options on GetYourGuide. I have used GetYourGuide all around the world and booked my Champagne tours in France via the site.
GetYourGuide’s service is impeccable and they allow you a 24-hour (sometimes more) cancelation period which is helpful if your plans change somewhat last minute.

I also love booking through them because their website has several other tour offerings and I can book everything in one place!
This is also helpful if you’re not a French speaker – booking through their site can help you navigate in English (or other languages they have available), which is comforting on trips in a foreign country.
Champagne Tours from Paris (with Details)
My favorite Champagne tours are listed below with itinerary details, booking information, and more. I have listed my top choice at the top spot.
1. Champagne Day Trip with 8 Tastings & Lunch (My Top Pick)
Type of Tour: Small Group
Duration: 10-11 hours
Meeting Point: Your accommodation in Central Paris
Language: English, French, Spanish

This Champagne day trip is my favorite one that I have been on over the years! I booked it a bit last minute (do not advise – it was unusual that I could get a spot but somehow I managed) but I ended up with a fun group on the tour and it made the day so memorable!
The small, modern van picked me up from my centrally-located hotel in Paris and we headed for Champagne country! My tour had 5 other women in it (from two different groups) and we all fit right in and knew we were in for a fun day.

The tour runs for 10-11 hours and you will begin your trip by checking out Epernay, one of the most famous places in Champagne and the home of the renowned Avenue de Champagne.
Once in Epernay, your group will head to a large Champagne house there (you will not know the spot until the day you arrive – but many groups go to Moët & Chandon, Mumm, Veuve Clicquot, etc). At the Champagne house, you will get to take a tour of their cellar, learn more about the process and history of champagne, and also have a tasting of some of their top products.
My tour took the group to Boizel and we had a chance to take a tour of their beautiful facility and cellars before sitting around a table to sample their Grand Vintage 2012 and Brut Reserve. This is also where you can purchase a bottle to take home with you. I opted to purchase one at a smaller, family-owned winery later that day, but it was still nice to have the option!

After your tasting in Epernay, the group will head to Cramant where there is a gorgeous viewpoint over the vineyards and countryside. The guide gave us more information about Champagne and the region while there.
After Cramant, we stopped by a smaller Champagne house called Voirin-Jumel for lunch and a tasting. It ended up being so filling and more food than I imagined we would have on this day tour!
Our day finished at Jean Milan, a Champagne house with a museum and a lot of bubbly to taste! I ended up purchasing my souvenir bottle to take home from here.

Unfortunately, this tour is not suitable for wheelchair users and if you have any dietary requirements, please get in touch with My Winedays (the tour company) at the time of booking so they can accommodation. This was one of the best tours I have ever taken and I think you’ll enjoy it just as much as I did!
2. Private Champagne Tour with 8 Tastings & Lunch
Type of Tour: Private
Duration: 10-11 hours
Meeting Point: Your accommodation in Central Paris
Language: English, French, Spanish
This is the exact tour I took above… except private! It is the best-rated private Champagne tour from Paris.
Your day begins at 7:30am where you’ll be picked up at your Paris accommodation and driven to the gorgeous Champagne region in a small van with your expert guide and the rest of your private group.
You’ll first stop by the Avenue de Champagne in Epernay before heading to one of the houses there to do a tasting, and cellar tour, and learn more about the region.

The Champagne house that you will tour and visit will be determined the day of the trip, so it will be based on availability – but will be a notable, larger one. If you do have a request for a specific Champagne house in Epernay, let My Winedays know before your trip so they can see if they can accommodate you.
Once this part of the tour and tasting is done, you will head to a viewpoint before going for a tasty lunch (which, of course, includes more Champagne!).

The day will wrap up at a smaller, family-owned Champagne house where you can check out their portfolio and purchase a souvenir bottle to take home with you.
While I found it nice for me to join a small group since I was traveling alone, this is the PERFECT option for couples or small groups booking a tour!
3. Prestige Champagne Tasting & Tour (with a Michelin Star Lunch!)
Type of Tour: Private
Duration: 11 hours
Meeting Point: Your accommodation in Central Paris
Language: English, French, Spanish
A Prestige Champagne tour from Paris is one for those looking for a luxury experience that is also private and removed from the small group tours that are often the cheaper options.
This Prestige Champagne trip is operated by My Winedays and on it, you’ll get a chance to meet with a Prestige Champagne producer and have a 3-course lunch at a Michelin-star restaurant before concluding your day at a boutique winery.

Your day begins in Paris where you’ll be picked up at your hotel before being taken to Champagne country! Your guide will pick you up in a private black car or luxury minivan and also have a delicious croissant waiting for you at pickup.
Once in Champagne, you will get to visit a world-famous Champagne house, do a tasting, walk through their cellars, and learn more about the history of the place and industry.

A 3-course lunch is served at a Michelin-star restaurant where you’ll also get a wine pairing alongside it. The day ends at a boutique winery where you’ll have another tasting and masterclass. If you’re looking to visit a specific winery, let My Winedays know at the time of booking so they can see if they can accommodate you.
4. Champagne Tour from Paris with 6 Tastings (Cheapest Option)
Type of Tour: Small Group
Duration: 11 hours
Meeting Point: Café Dada Ternes in Paris
Language: English
If you’re on a strict budget but still want to enjoy a Champagne tour, this 6-tasting trip is for you! This small group Champagne tour from Paris is the cheapest on this guide and it still gives you 11 hours of visiting the region, including Reims and Epernay, and tasting different wines.
You’ll meet your guide at Café Dada Ternes in Paris before setting off with your group of no more than 8 participants. The first stop is Reims, the unofficial capital of Champagne where you’ll get to visit the Reims Cathedral of Notre Dame, the location where the kings of France were once crowned.

After a stop in Reims, you will check out the chapel at Abbey at Hautvillers (this is where Dom Perignon is buried), take a guided tour with a tasting of Nicolas Feuillatte (the world’s largest producer of Champagne), and do a tasting at a smaller, family-run winery.

This is a wonderful option for those looking to save a bit of money on their Champagne tour, but still get to learn more about the famous drink while seeing some of the highlights of the region.
5. Moët & Chandon Champagne Tour & Tasting
Type of Tour: Private
Duration: 10 hours
Meeting Point: Your hotel in Central Paris
Language: English, French
One thing that is important to know is that many of the tours I discussed above will take you to a Champagne house that is determined on the day of the tour based on availability.
If you are especially keen on visiting Moët & Chandon, you may be out of luck booking one of the tours above. But, if your heart is set on it – you can still do it with this private Moët & Chandon Champagne tour from Paris.

This is a more luxurious experience and it is private. Your expert guide will take you to Moët & Chandon and you’ll have a dedicated tasting and tour of the facility before then heading to a smaller, family-owned winery.
You will also get to check out Hautvillers village, where Dom Perignon is buried before heading to lunch. Lunch is NOT included on this tour and the booking is done at a bistro.
About the Champagne Region in France
France’s Champagne region, now referred to as Grand Est (since 2016) is situated in the northeast of the country. Its unofficial capital is the city of Reims and it is a pretty easy day trip from Paris.
The grapes that are usually grown in Champagne country are Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier.

In the region, you will find 5 distinct districts and wine-producing regions – Aube, Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, Côte de Sézanne, and Vallée de la Marne.
If your trip is starting from within the region, there are plenty of Champagne tours from Reims and Epernay, but this guide solely focuses on those leaving from Paris.
Paris Champagne Tasting & Tour FAQ
When is the best season for a Champagne tasting and tour in Paris?
You can visit France’s Champagne region at any time! I tend to visit Paris in winter (I love the city as a weekend break during the darker months in Northern Europe (where I live).
The only time I would avoid visiting would be during the harvest season as the houses are swamped with work and it may impact the tours and tastings ever so slightly.

The harvest period can vary depending on the weather that year, but it can range from the middle of August to September.
I usually go on Champagne tours from Paris during the winter months, so I have not experienced a harvest period tour.
What should you wear on a Champagne tour?
I have worn different types of clothing on different types of Champagne tours and everything worked without issues.
On one tour, I wore a black dress with patterned tights and black Dr. Martens. On another, I wore jeans and a sweater with sneakers. Both were fine and acceptable.

However, I would like to emphasize that if you are touring a Champagne cellar, you will need to dress pretty warm, even in summer!
They are underground and kept at a constant temperature which is around 11C (51F). So, even if visiting during the summer months, bring a sweater or light jacket with you on the tour.
Can you visit any Champagne houses without a tour?
Yes! You can visit most Champagne houses without an organized tour from Paris. While a tour makes it much easier (especially for non-French speakers), you can certainly set up your own trip with a rental car.
Here are some of the top Champagne houses people like to visit and how you can experience them:
Champagne House Accessibility (Wheelchair-Friendly Wineries)
If you are a wheelchair user or traveling to Paris with someone who is, you can still book a Champagne tour, but it could create a bit of an issue if you do not inform them of the circumstances ahead of time.

Many Champagne houses in Paris have elevators and wheelchair ramps, but not all. I would check with the company ahead of time before booking and if you are not confident that the tour could be for you, you can still visit some of them independently with a rental car.
Here are some wheelchair-friendly Champagne houses:
Lanson is in the city of Reims and is close to the center and easy to get to! I have visited and not only do they offer affordable tours, but they are also wheelchair-friendly.
I hope you found this guide to the best Champagne tours from Paris helpful in planning your trip!
